Submission Instructions for Authors

To submit an abstract, please visit http://cscr2009.abstractcentral.com/ and follow the instructions

Once you have accessed the Abstract Central submission site:

  1. DEADLINE: The deadline for electronic submission of abstracts is December 12, 2008 11:59 pm ET.

  2. CHARACTER LIMIT: There is a limit of 3800 characters (including spaces) and tables for the text of your abstract submission. The character limit does not include authors, institutions, or title.

  3. SPECIAL CHARACTERS and FORMATTING: If you copy and past the title and/or body from your word processor, special characters or formatting may not transfer. You may have to replace special characters and/or insert formatting tags using the special character palette.

  4. TITLE: The title will be displayed in all uppercase. Do not enter formatting tags into the title.

  5. INSTITUTIONS: Enter all departmental and institutional affiliations. Department is an optional field. You do not need to enter institutions in a particular order to be able to designate author affiliations.

  6. AUTHORS: Please enter all authors in the order they should appear in the heading of the abstract. If you (the Contact Author) are not the Presenter on the abstract, you will need to provide contact information on the Presenter. The presenter is also required to complete a full financial disclosure.

  7. KEY WORDS: Up to three key words should be selected. You are required to select at least one key word.

  8. TABLES: One table may be added to the abstract. Each table row will deduct 50 characters from the character count.

  9. AWARDS AND SUPPLEMENTAL DATA: If you are applying for an award you may have to upload one or more of the following pieces of supplemental data: A Curriculum Vitae, Letter(s) of support/recommendation, and Proof of K Award Status. You must upload these documents during abstract submission in order to be considered for the award. Accepted file types are .doc, .pdf and .rtf.

  10. ABSTRACT PROOF: Carefully check the proof of your abstract. Make sure all special characters and formatting are displaying properly in your proof. If you find errors, return to the appropriate page by clicking on the page name in the sidebar menu, and make your corrections.

  11. SUBMITTING YOUR ABSTRACT: If you have not completed all required sections/items you will not be able to submit your abstract. When all required information is entered, the “submit” button will appear at the bottom. You will have to pay the $75.00 Submission Fee to complete the submission process. After entering your payment information, print the resulting page as your electronic receipt. If you need to obtain a receipt after the submission process has closed, Login, click the “submission” button, and click on “view proof” to find a copy of your abstract and a receipt.

  12. TECHNICAL SUPPORT: If you have any difficulty with the submission process that you cannot resolve yourself, please call or e-mail ScholarOne Technical Support.
