CSCR Early Career Development Awards
Application
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must hold an MD, DO or MD/PhD degree.
- Applicants must have a current K Award or equivalent (VA Career Development Award, American Heart Association SDG Award).
- Applicants must be enrolled in one of the recognized specialty boards in the US.
- Applicants must either be current members of CSCR or applying for membership at the time they are applying for the award.
- The deadline to submit an application is January 4, 2010.
Conditions of the Award
- The award is $10,000 for one year
- Award begins January 2010
- Funds may be used for any combination of salary and/or lab support.
- Award may only be used for salary support and direct costs. Institutional indirect or general overhead costs cannot be covered.
- Recipient must make proper acknowledgements in presentations and publications resulting from the research sponsored by the award. Awardee will also notify CSCR of any publications resulting from the work supported by the Award.
- All awardees must submit a research abstract to the CSCR meeting that is based on the work supported by the Career Development Award
- The CSCR may discontinue an award if it is documented that the purpose or the terms of the award are not being fulfilled. In this event, the recipient will be notified in writing of this determination, the reason, and the effective date.
- The Award application must be submitted via the CSCR web site. Paper applications will not be accepted.
- The applicant must upload a RESEARCH ABSTRACT of their work for which they are applying for the grant, current Curriculum Vitae (CV), and two (2) letters of recommendation.
- All awardees must submit a research abstract to the CSCR meeting that is based on the work supported by the Career Development Award and present it at the Annual meeting.
Review Process
- Applications will be reviewed by an appointed Grant Committee designated by the CSCR.
- The Grant Committee will score the applications based on the significance of the research findings reported in the abstract, the letters of recommendation, and the assessment of the overall promise of the investigator reflected in the CV.
- Application review decisions are final.
